The Scene That Broke Me
If a writer tells you they have full control of their characters and stories, don't listen. The truth is, I write what I'm told and when I don't do that, I am greeted with some form of "writer's block" until I comply. But that, my friend, is the life of a writer.

After showing Honey to the bedroom across from hers, Elise threw open the door to the library. Her heart quickened at the sight of the first Awen and her two trusty sidekicks in the painting above the mantel.
Then, silently acknowledging the matriarch of the Awen Order of Druids, Elise lit logs that someone, likely Simon, had neatly arranged in the fireplace. When the doorbell rang, she hurried downstairs, hip pinching for the first time since her nap.
