Crossed, Cursed, & Nearly Dead
Introducing the Triple-D Detectives, Wranglers of the Supernatural
Hi, there! I’m settling in to finish a scene for Crossed, Cursed, & Nearly Dead. It might be broken into more than one chapter. Yep. It’s a long one. But I thought that while I’m at it, I’d share the gist of this new series with you.
Three 50-something women, all badasses in their own right, recently learned a colossal secret—they are triplets, borne, birthed, and left for dead by the evil witch-goddess Bé Chuille. Awen, an ancient druid priestess who (re)incarnates when needed, rescued and raised them until age 4, when they were placed with druid families to train as Druids of the Awen Order.
Now, it’s 54 years later, and they are starting over.
Rona’s been double-crossed by her famous trauma surgeon husband. He is bonking one of the interns and wants a divorce, AND the estate Rona transformed over 35 years. She can see into the past, present, and future and has a special affinity with plants.
Elise takes early retirement from the AIA (Alien Intelligence Agency) after going against orders to help save the world in Awen Tide. Since childhood, Elise has had the gift of sight. She sees and hears ghosts. To her, it’s a curse.
Alexis is dead. Well, nearly dead. Her spirit is hitchhiking with Honey, a 30something hottie she ran into in the Bahamas while saving Rona’s son (well, her son) from a Reptilian attack. She was supposed to go back to the Underworld, yet after helping Talav the Earth Dragon save her daughter (well, Rona’s daughter) in Awen Rising, Alexis was allowed to remain on the earthly plane. Oh, and she may be the most powerful witch alive.
The three are coming together in Crossed, Cursed, & Nearly Dead to form the Triple-D Detective Agency. As the sisters search for a missing magical gem and the murderess who stole it (the previous Head of Security for the Awen Order), they encounter the ghost of a GBI agent. Sean O’Leary was killed while investigating the disappearance of Atlanta’s children and street people. With Triple-D’s help, he is determined to discover who is behind the continuing disappearances and to bring them down.
So, that’s it. For now, anyway. I would love to know what you think.
Soon, I will begin posting chapters of Crossed, Cursed, & Nearly Dead. It is the first book in a series spun off from my Awen Trilogy and picks up soon after Book Three, Awen Tide, ends, but with new main characters and storyline.
Thank you for reading this and supporting Awen’s Porch.
Until next time, Olivia/O. J.
UPDATE: The first chapter goes live on Monday, June 30, 2025 (in celebration of my birthday). Through July 5, upgrade to a paid subscription for 50% off. That’s $25 for the whole year or $2.50 per month.
Thanks a million-trillion-zillion. I’m so glad you’re here.
Speaking of the Awen Trilogy…
If you enjoy upbeat urban fantasies with a psychological and romantic edge, check out my completed Awen Trilogy. It’s different. Like me. Think of a secret society of magical druids protecting Earth from a race of evil reptilians circa 2042. Then imagine a down-on-her-luck disaster specialist compelled to lead said druids.
Mix in a sexy druid priest, his teenaged nephew, a plethora of quirky animal and dragon elders, and embark on a grand romp that takes you from Druid Hills, GA, to the Bahamas, Normandy, Wales, Glastonbury, and even the poles.
Dare to join me for a fantastical ride? Come on. You know you want to.

This is interesting and mysterious. I love the way you introduced the characters and now I’m eager to learn more about them.
👍 Like the new direction.
