I remember the blog. It's been a long journey my friend. I hope everyone reads and appreciates, the heart and soul you put into Awens Trilogy. I reread it. Now I am hooked again on your newest adventure Crossed, Cursed and Nearly Dead. Love the Character's. Keep writing Dear Friend, so I can keep reading. Love you. PS I really need the beach lol

Nice to meet you! That's quite a story yourself. Substack really needs a "read later" button because I reckon your stories are right up my alley.

Yes, as you experienced, it was AWFUL, Anoushka! I finally, finally got up the nerve to start writing a book about an isolated incident that still haunts me today. It gushed out of me. Then, WHAM! Horrified, I realized I'd saved it nowhere but on that laptop. I took it to a tech outfit and the guy tried his best and printed out pages of random characters with some intermittent words. But he could not rescue my book. Gateway gave me a new laptop. But they could do nothing about my lost book.

I still have the title and maybe, maaaaybeee, one day I'll write it. But, it takes me ages to get back up after being slapped down by the Universe, so that event set my writing days waaay back. It was months or more before I attempted something else. THAT one I finished (Frank & Ernie Find Home). And I began emailing my book files to myself on a regular basis so that should it happen again, I can access it online. I'm still not great at backing other things up though. Which reminds me, I need to download my Substack again!

Thanks for reading this and commenting, Anoushka! I'm so sorry about your post. Losing any words sucks. I hope you were able to recreate it. :D <3

agh i'm so sorry, i feel terrible about it 😭 writing a book is such hard work and the universe had no business being so mean to you 😔 especially your very FIRST book and one that was about a hard to write incident too!

i do hope you write it again someday, though, because i'd love to read it (i'd love to read anything you write) emailing yourself the files regularly is pretty smart! i've exclusively been using google docs since the blog post incident (and that other time my notebook got lost... 💀), which is also way more handy and sidekick-worthy than MS word ever was (as a little side bonus)

Right?! Thank you!! I’m sorry it happened to you too. I would like to encourage you to also email your file to yourself occasionally. Just in case something ever happens to Google Docs. You just never know.🙏
