What is Awen’s Porch?
A safe space to drag up a chair and sit a spell with Author O.J. Barré. Read original thought pieces, and humorous, self-help, slice-of-life, & writing articles full of heart by an experienced essayist and indie fiction author with five published books under her belt. Sink your teeth into O.J.’s spinoff serial and work-in-progress, Crossed, Cursed, & Nearly Dead (an urban fantasy thriller). Follow the links to explore O.J.’s writing.
Why Should You Subscribe?
We’re building a supportive, engaging, and fun literary community. If that sounds like you, please join in. Once a week, you’ll receive a free newsletter featuring O.J.’s (mostly) humorous life and self-help articles, plus writing tips with heart. Also, on Fridays, a new chapter of O.J.’s urban fantasy thriller, Crossed, Cursed, & Nearly Dead, is released.
Who Are We?
This publication is produced by neurodivergent polymath* sexagenarian**, parabolist***, author, and indie publisher O.J. Barré. Which is a fancy way of saying that O.J. is a highly intelligent, extremely sensitive being in the seventh decade of life, with a broad knowledge base, and often writes in parable format (meaning, her tales, both personal and fictional, have broader implications).
With a backlog of over 300 articles written over a three-year period and more fodder arising every day, O.J. is a soulful, seasoned writer and wisewoman elder, with a list of five indie-published books. Call on O.J. for help navigating the self-publishing ropes—from the writing stage to uploading the finished novel to KDP, D2D, and Ingram Spark—and the steps and pitfalls in between. Subscribe to DM/direct message O.J. with questions anytime. More about O.J.:
*polymath - person with broad, comprehensive knowledge
**sexagenarian - one in their 60s
***parabolist - narrator of parables
